BASBOUSA - A MIDDLE EASTERN SWEET

One of my new little side photo projects is to get those delicious #middleeastern #sweets that I find in the local supermarkets and see how best I can photograph them.

Here is one of the first with a little info on what the sweet is.

Absolutely enjoyed shooting this and lots more coming.

Bright scene

Setup Explained:

I wanted this to be a bright scene but i was not sure if the items would look nice under the bright light. I decided to give it a try and lo and behold it worked.

It did work but i was not fully satisfied with the quality of the light. It looked a bit flat and it didn't have the spread i required. So that's where the diffusion came in, which helped to spread the light a bit more and gave me the softness which i wanted.

This shot was almost close but again, it was not quite there yet.

So, i added a reflector (image above) for just a little bit of fill on the right side and finally ended up with the image below. Exactly what i wanted.

I make the final set of edits in Lightroom along with a curves adjustment & cloning cleanup in Photoshop for the final image you see on the top.
